The Everest base camp trek is an epic journey in the land of Nepal Himalayas. Trek to Everest region is a popular and best adventure trekking destination due to its wide range of scenic views of majestic Mt. Everest, Mt. Pumori, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu, Amadablam and Cho Oyu Himal. Further, explore Sagarmatha National Park, a world heritage site that is home to a variety of Himalayan flora and fauna, and an oldest “Tengbouche” monastery.

Everest base camp trek starts with the 45 minutes scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla Hillary Airport, which in itself is a breathtaking lifetime experience for trekkers. Lukla is a small town but gateway of Everest trek. From Lukla, begins trek through the bank of Dudh Koshi River to Phakinding. Next morning, trek to Namche Bazaar, a historical trade center and home of Sherpa people, where a stunning mountain vista awaits visitors. A day rest at Namache then trek to Tengbouch, where a monastery sits in a picturesque setting with an incredible landscape. Further commence your trek through rocky trail with hard mountain air to reach the famous view point Kalapather for a marvelous view of Mt. Everest and many other mountains.

EBC TREK ITINERARY DETAILS:

DAY|01|  ARRIVED TO KATHMANDU (1300 METER)

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan international airport in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by of our representatives, who will bring you to your hotel. After you have been settled in at your hotel, our representative will brief you in detail about your travel itinerary. After which, you will be taken on a stroll of the local market. In the evening, we offer you a welcome dinner at a Nepalese restaurant with Nepalese traditional cultural program.

DAY|02|  KATHMANDU CITY TOUR VISIT HERITAGE SITES 

Today, you will be taken on an interesting guided tour of Kathmandu city, you will visit historical monuments and religious holy places like temples, Stupas and durbar squares. The rest of the time, we will spend in preparation for trek.


DAY|03|  FLY TO LUKLA TREK TO MANJO (2835 METER)

Pass directly through the village of lukla and follow the path to Namache. The first village after Lukla is Chhpelung, and and further down the trail, you will pass through Ghat and Phakding. Both these villages have a good selection for food & accommodations and are conveniently located for lunch break. However if you still have stamina, it is advisable to walk on to Monju to spend the night as this will give you a good start for the steep ascent to Namache the following morning.


DAY|04|  TREK TO NAMACHE BAZAAR (3440 METER)

After passing through the Sagarmatha National park entrance, the trail passes through the village of Jorsale and then along the river. You will cross two bridges before beginning the steep ascent to Namache, which can take up to three hour to complete. Be aware that there are no teahouses or lodges on this path, so ensure that you have ample water to get you to the top. You are now heading into a high altitude area and take it easy. Even the fittest people are prone to altitude sickness.


DAY|05|  REST IN NAMACHE FOR ACCLIMATIZE 

Today is rest day in Namache Bazaar for altitude acclimatization in Namache. During the rest day to acclimatization, we will visit few nearest villages for cultural experience. Khumjung village (3790m) is over the hill behind the Namache bazaar and takes about 2 hours to reach. There are several sites in the village. Khunde is a short walk from Khumjung. After a steep climb, we will arrive at an airstrip. Cross this and rejoin the path at the other side. After a short distance, we will pass a stupa. Thame (3750m)is a more traditional next village on the trail, and a good place to take lunch. Thame is home to one of Khumbu’s oldest monasteries.


DAY|06| TREK TO TENGNOUCHE (3860 METER)

After a short but steep climb out of Namche Bazaar, then walk on a level trail to villages of Kenjuma and Sanasa. The trail offers uninhibited views of Ama Dablam. After short while, the trail descends to the level of Dudh Koshi River and you will pass a few hamlets and cross bridge then reach to Phunki Thanga for lunch. From here, the trail ascends steeply. There is teahouse or lodge on this stretch, so take some refreshment in Phunki Thanga and stock up on water for couple of hours climb to Tengbouche.


DAY|07|  TREK TO DINGBOUCHE (4410 METER)

For those heading for Everest, the trail passes through the villages of Debouche. There is small village Pangbouche (3860m) on the left. This is the best place to rest and relax for lunch. We continue our walk on to Dingboche, a picturesque village just under Ama Dablam. The trail comparatively gentle gradients, although you proceed at a leisurely pace because of the altitude. We will reach an altitude of 4100m.


DAY|08|  TREK TO LOBUCHE (4910 METER)

Today, we continue to climb as we are heading to the altitude of 4910 meters, walking past frozen rivers, an icy wilderness of stunning beauty. There are views of the Khumbu Icefall, Pumori and many smaller peaks from ridge tops on the track. Today may arise some breathing problems due to the altitude.


DAY|09|  TREK TO GORAK-SHEP  (5140 METER) CLIMB KALAPATHER (5550 METER)

Trek to Gorak Shep is easy and short through the lateral moraine of Khumbu Glacier. It is about 3 hours hike. We will have lunch and fixed the accommodation for night in Gorak Shep then proceed to climb Kala Patther (5550 m) with great view of Mt. Everest and surrounding mountains. The admirable sunset view from Kala Patther as the setting sun’s rays strike the snow-capped mountains the resulting scenery is indescribable. Gorak Shep will be our base to visit to Everest Base Camp (5364m) and climb Kala Patther (5550m). Stay overnight at lodge/ hotel.


DAY|10|  HIKE TO EVEREST BASE CAMP (5316 M) AND WALK DOWN TO PHERICHE 

Today, we start early in the morning hike to Everest Base Camp. It takes longer time than Kala Patther. However, we need to get prepared for an early morning, dark and cold temperature. After exploring the base camp, we will retrace steps to Gorakshep for lunch then, we continue our walk descent to Pheriche for overnight


DAY|11| TREK TO NAMACHE BAZAAR 

Departure the mountains behind us our descent takes us through Tengboche Monastery at elevation of 3860 meters before continuing back to the town of Namche Bazaar. We arrive back into Namche Bazaar in the afternoon and rests of time explore the village.


DAY|12|  TREK TO LUKLA 

After breakfast, finally we return to Lukla where the trek began. Enjoying time to reflect on the trek as a group and the personal achievement of all those who took part. Also giving you time to explore the town.


DAY|13|  FLY BACK TO KATHMANDU 

Fly back to Kathmandu with scenic flight of 45 minutes then transfer to hotel and rest at hotel or free day.


DAY|14|  FREE TIME FOR SHOPPING/REST

After breakfast, explore tourist hub Thamel (shopping area) where the locals shop so busy and fascinating. In the evening, participate in farewell dinner. Stay overnight at hotel on B.B basis Stay overnight at hotel on B.B basis.


DAY|15|  DEPARTURE

Today ends your Everest base camp trekking trip in Nepal. Our representative will take you to the airport 3 hour before than your departure scheduled. If you have more time you can utilize that on your choice for shopping or sightseeing. On your way home, you will have plenty of time to plan your next wonderful trip to Nepal.

BASIC & ESSENTIAL INFO TO EBC TREK


Destination Management Inc (DMI) would like kindly inform to our valued visitors/ trekkers’ about the importance of equipments and others information about the trekking trip in Nepal. The trekking equipment means or it indicates to those things, which needed personally for you during the trekking. Due to trekking is a way of travelling in remote and high Himalayas region, the trekkers should be fully equipped for their safety. Trekkers have to manage the following equipment according to their trekking destination.

 

 WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU (Basic Equipment)

• Light sweater or jacket, T-short for during the day

SAFETY & SUCCESS 

Our principle is first safety then success so kindly request to all our trekkers, when you start the trip, do not walk alone, always follow the group, do not make ostentatious display of valuable possessions and do not leave lodge door unlocked. Always follows the rules of Acute Mountain Sickness.
 

ACCOMMODATION & FOOD

During the trek, all accommodations will be on twin sharing basis. However, teahouse / lodges of some places only have shared washing and toilet facilities and food will be provided at lodge chose from menu, all types of international cuisine including typical Nepali food. As the trail goes up the water, prices increase. It is possible to use water purification tablets as option.
 

ACCLIMATIZATION

All trek itineraries are planned with level of awareness of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). Altitude sickness is a significant risk when trekking on any trails above 3000meters. You should have to be familiar with the symptoms and do not ignore it. If you or anyone in your group begins to experience symptoms of AMS then do not heisted or delay inform to your group leader (trekking guide).
 

SHOWER

In the beginning of trek, you may find running hot water for shower, but as you climb do not expect for daily shower. If want or need to wash your body further on trek, you can ask for bucket of hot water, if it is possible.
 

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS 

This is non-technical trekking route will push you but do not require any previous trekking or mountaineering experience. You will want to be in good physical condition and be able to trek for 5-7 hours daily at altitude.
