Trip Overview Gokyo Lake EBC Trekking

The Everest region provides many optional trekking routes for adventure trekkers. The trek to Gokyo offers an alternative to the traditional trek to Everest Base camp. The views in the Gokyo region are tremendous above the Gokyo Lake. Kala Pather provides panoramic view of Mt. Cho Oyu, Mt. Everest, and Mt. Lhotse. Mt. Makalu. Gokyo is a small village and walled pastures on the shores of a large lake. For those with more time and energy, a trip beyond to a fifth lake. Moreover,  Gokyo  is itself a popular trekking destination. The Gokyo Lake is more popular among the trekkers due to its’ situated an altitude and geographical point of view. Gokyo –Ri peak is known as a best view point for panoramic view of Mt. Everest Himalaya range. After exploration of Gokyo, we proceed to cross Cho –La pass that is the more adventure part of access to Everest Base Camp via this Gokyo lake trek. The Everest base camp is ultimate destination and situated at an altitude 5316 meter.

 ITINERARY DETAILS

 

DAY|01|   ARRIVED TO KATHMANDU 

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan international airport in Kathmandu you will be received and transfer to hotel. After being refresh, the trip leader will briefing in details about the program and take a stroll at the local market. in the evening we offers you a welcome dinner at Nepalese restaurant with Nepalese traditional cultural program.

DAY|02|  KATHMANDU CITY TOUR

Today full day will be interesting guided tour to Kathmandu city, visit to historical monuments and religion holy places like temples, stupa and durbar squares. During the sightseeing, you will experience culturally diverse of Kathmandu valley and explore wonderful world heritage. Rest of time we will spend for preparation of the trek.

DAY|03| FLY TO LUKLA, TREK TO PHAKDING

Up early morning from then on, fly to Lukla 45 minutes in a small plane an airport on the side of a mountain but exciting. After short tea break travel from village to village up and down valleys, over gravel, rocks, boulders and swing bridges with lots of from all over the world plus cows, ponies and yaks. Stay overnight at lodge.

DAY|04|  TREK TO NAMCHE BAZAAR 

An early breakfast, we continue our walk through Dudh-Koshi valley to Jorsale pass. This is official entry point of Everest trek. Further, continue along the trail, crossing the Bhote-Koshi River to begin the steeps climb up to Namache. Namache Bazaar is a busy, fun village. Trekkers can buy many things as mountain’s souvenir.

DAY|05|  TREK TO PHORTSE TANGA  (3680METER)

From Namche climb the hill to Khumjung and descend west of the village down the broad valley leading to the Dudh Koshi. Here there is a choice of routes, the Yak trail which climbs gently, but traverses a long distance around the ridge, or the steep staircase-like trail made of rocks embedded in the narrow cleft of a large boulder. The two trails soon rejoin and continue towards a large chorten on the ridge top at 3973m. This ridge descends from Khumbila. From the ridge at Mong the trail descends in a series of steep switchbacks down a sandy slope to the Dudhkoshi. After crossing the bridge you will reach Phortse, a small Sherpa village.

DAY|06|  TREK TO DOLE 

The trail climbs steeply out of the valley through rhododendron forest, which gives way to fragrant stands of Juniper and large conifers at higher elevations. The route passes through the settlements of Tonga and Gyele (3960m) to Dole (pronounced doe-lay). The views of Khumbila and Tawachee (6542m) are tremendous throughout the day.

DAY|07|  TREK TO MACHHERMO (4470 METER)

From Dole the trail climbs via Lhabarma at 4220m to Luza at 4360m. The path is steep in most places as it climbs through scrub to Lhabarma. The track continues to climb along the side of the valley high above the river, crossing sandy spurs to reach Machermo at 4410m. It was in Machermo in 1974 that one of the first Yeti sightings weas reported in Khumbu. There are three hotels and good mountain views in Machhermo.

DAY|08|  TREK TO GOKYO  (4790 METER)

Beyond Machhermo the trail climbs a ridge for an excellent view both down the valley to Kantega and up towards Cho-Oyu (8153m). Beyond the ridge the valley widens as the trail passes through Pangram at 4390m. We descend to the river bank before beginning the climb up to the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpa glacier. It is a steep climb on the moraine. Afterwards the trail levels out as it follows the valley past a second lake, known as Longponga at 4690m, then finally up a boulder-strewn path to Gokyo at 4,750m.

DAY|09|  REST DAY AT GOKYO 

DAY|10|  TREK DZONGLA VIA CHOLA - PASS  (5420 METER)

The trail descends from Goykyo, passing the second lake. About halfway between the first and second lakes a trail leads across the moraine to the east and the Cho-La pass (Chhugyuma) at 5,420m. The pass is not difficult but it is steep and involves a glacier traverse on the eastern side. It takes 3 days from Gokyo to Lobuche on this high altitude route.

DAY|11|  TREK TO LOBUCHE  (4910 METER)

Continue along the moraine of the glacier, with views of Kalapathar and Pumori, before reaching Lobuche at (4910m) for your evening stay. This is the last stop before the climb to the base camp the next day. It is important to take the time to rest and acclimatize for this unforgettable day.

DAY|12|  TREK TO GORAKSHEP (5140m) & HIKE TO KALAPATHER (5550 METER)

This trail gives a good view of Pumori and there are beautiful views of the Everest group from Gorakshep and Kalapathar.

DAY|13|  VISIT TO EVEREST BASE CAMP (5316 M) TREK BACK TO LOBUCHE 

Everest Base Camp is the main camp for mountaineers attempting the mountain, situated at an elevation of 5252m. Trekkers feel understandably great satisfaction in reaching here as the Everest Base Camp is not only full of history but breathtakingly dramatic, perched at the foot of the infamous Khumbu icefalls.

DAY|14|  TREK TO PANGBOCHE (3930 METER)

We retrace our steps to Duglha then go straight up the hill from the bridge to reach an upper trail. Staying high above the valley floor, we pass the yak pasture at Dusa to a chorten at the head of the Imja valley.

DAY|15|  TREK TO NAMCHE (3860 METER)

The trail descends the Imja Khola valley then crosses the Khumbu River. Following the trail downhill it is easy to make a detour and visit of Tengboche monastery Continue to Namache for the night.

DAY|16|  TREK TO LUKLA  

Today, it will be easiest of the trek. Leisurely we can have breakfast then start to walk down to Phakding forest trail and deep gorge of Dudh- Koshi River. We will take short break for lunch in Phakding then continue our trek to Lukla. In the evening, we can celebrate last night of the trek together all member and staff.

DAY|17|  FLY BACK TO KATHMANDU 

Fly back to Kathmandu with scenic flight of 45 minutes then transfer to hotel and rest at hotel or free day.

DAY|18|  FREE DAY IN KATHMANDU 

After breakfast, visit around Thamel (shopping area) where the locals shop so busy and fascinating. In the evening, participate in farewell dinner. Stay overnight at hotel on B.B basis Stay overnight at hotel on B.B basis.

DAY|19|  DEPARTURE OR FAREWELL  

Today ends your Everest panorama trekking trip in Nepal. Our representative will take you to the airport 3 hour before than your departure scheduled. If you have more time you can utilize that on your choice for shopping or sightseeing. On your way home, you will have plenty of time to plan your next wonderful trip to Nepal.

 BASIC AND ESSENTIAL INFO FOR TREKKING TRIP 

Destination Management Inc (DMI) would like kindly inform to our valued visitors/ trekkers’ about the importance of equipments and others information about the trekking trip in Nepal. The trekking equipment means or it indicates to those things, which needed personally for you during the trekking. Due to trekking is a way of travelling in remote and high Himalayas region, the trekkers should be fully equipped for their safety. Trekkers have to manage the following equipment according to their trekking destination.


What to Bring With You (Basic Equipment)

• Sun Hat and Sun Cream.
• Woolen cap and glove.
• Light sweater or jacket, T-short for during the day. 
• Warm jacket, paints.
• Sleeping bag & Rain poncho.
• Trekking shoes Poly propylene/wool socks. 
• Swiss knife. 
• Big backpack and rain cover for it.
• Small backpack.
• Sandals for shower.
• Flashlight & spare batteries.
• Reading book, Pen & Note book.
• Sunglasses, sun screen & camera etc.
• Water bottle.
• personal towel. 

Safe Trekking Arrangments

Our principle is first safety than success so kindly request to all our trekkers, when you start the trip, do not walk alone, always follow the group, do not make ostentatious display of valuable possessions and do not leave lodge door unlocked. Always follows the rules of Acute Mountain Sickness.

Accommodation & Food

During the trek, all accommodations will be on twin sharing basis. However, teahouse / lodges of some places only have shared washing and toilet facilities and food will be provided at lodge chose from menu, all types of international cuisine including typical Nepali food. As the trail goes up the water, prices increase. It is possible to use water purification tablets as option.

Acclimatization

All trek itineraries are planned with level of awareness of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). Altitude sickness is a significant risk when trekking on any trails above 3000meters. You should have to be familiar with the symptoms and do not ignore it. If you or anyone in your group begins to experience symptoms of AMS then do not heisted or delay inform to your group leader (trekking guide).

Showers

In the beginning of trek, you may find running hot water for shower, but as you climb do not expect for daily shower. If want or need to wash your body further on trek, you can ask for bucket of hot water, if it is possible.

Physical Requirements

This is non-technical trekking route will push you but do not require any previous trekking or mountaineering experience. You will want to be in good physical condition and be able to trek for 5-7 hours daily at altitude.
