Tanahun Travel takes you to the heart of Nepal. Located in Gandaki Pradesh, Tanahun sits almost at the country’s center. It is one of the seventy-seven districts of Nepal and part of the newly established federal provinces.
In the east, Tanahun borders Gorkha. To the south, it meets Chitwan and Nawalparasi, while Kaski and Syangja lie to the west. In the north, it connects with Kaski and Lamjung.
Tanahun is famous for its historical, cultural, and religious destinations. It is the birthplace of Sage Vedvyas and Bhanu Bhakta Acharya, the renowned Nepali poet. The district has four urban municipalities – Bhanu, Bhimad, Byas, and Shuklagandaki – and six rural municipalities – Anbu Khaireni, Devghat, Bandipur, Rhishing, Ghiring, and Myagde.
According to scholars, the name Tanahun originates from Tanahunsur and three nearby peaks that historically served as lookout points. These peaks were once called Tanangu, which later evolved into Tanahun. Moreover, the Sanskrit text Vasudev Rasananda mentions Tanahun as “Tritangu Rajadhanoya”, meaning the capital of Tritangu.
Overall, Tanahun Travel offers rich history, vibrant culture, and breathtaking landscapes, making it a must-visit destination in central Nepal.
